INT. BLACK SCREEN
The screen is completely black for a few moments.
PENTAGON
(echoed, disembodied)
It’s not too late.
HOST
(echoed, disembodied)
It’s not too late.
HEXAGON’S MOTHER
(echoed, disembodied, overlapping Host’s voice)
Yep! Just like that!
TRIANGLE
(echoed, disembodied)
Hexagon!
HEXAGON’S FATHER
(echoed, disembodied, overlapping Triangle’s voice)
What do you do when someone wants to hurt you?
CIRCLE
(echoed, disembodied)
Hexagon!
GANG MEMBER
(echoed, disembodied)
SHOW YOURSELF, NOW!
NONAGON
(extremely loud but disembodied, cutting off every voice)
It’s not too late.
Hexagon abruptly opens her eyes. Perhaps it was just a dream. She gasps like it was a nightmare.
INT. PRISON CELL
Hexagon wakes up, locked in a prison cell. It looks like she’s in a prison with a lot of security. It’s nighttime, hinted by most of the lights turned off and any windows are dark. There is no one else in any of the other cells.
She looks around, sitting up, looking confused but there’s a hint that she’s aware of what happened and how she got here.
SPHERE
(out of view)
Finally woke up, huh?
Hexagon alertly jolts in the direction of the voice, echoing through the metal walls of the prison.
Sphere walks over, cloaked like he has to conceal himself, but in this place, he doesn’t have to.
SPHERE
(mockingly)
Hey, sleepyhead!
HEXAGON
What do you want.
SPHERE
What do you mean, what do I want? I’m just saying good morning!
HEXAGON
Hmph.
SPHERE
(still mockingly)
Not much of a talker, are we? What, did you destroy all those buildings in silence?
SPHERE
Seems to me it wasn’t so silent. I could hear it all from the city!
SPHERE
What, are you going to bomb THIS place now?
HEXAGON
…
SPHERE
You know what, I’ll give you your toys back. Here’s a bomb you had!
Sphere tosses a small explosive through the cell bars. Hexagon doesn’t catch it and continues to put a death stare on Sphere.
SPHERE
Come on, you wanna get out of here, dontcha’? Don’t you LOVE exploding things?
SPHERE
(suddenly dark)
… Or is that not you anymore?
Hexagon snaps out of the death stare and looks slightly surprised for a second.
SPHERE
I watched your little redemption after you exploded all those towers. Sheesh! How could just a couple of small towers produce so much dust?
HEXAGON
…
SPHERE
Hm. Seems like you’re not one to talk right now. I’ll leave you with your little toy. See ya later Hexagon~!
Sphere playfully walks away from her cell.
Hexagon looks at the bomb for a second. She isn’t tied up or anything, so she could grab it and detonate it right now.
But she doesn’t.
EXT. THE CRIMSON VEIL
The rest of the cast are in an alternate dimension, one that isn’t black and white. It’s… red.
The gang is lying down, standing, observing… anything you would do if you don’t know what to do. Around them is a large field with red grass. The sky is a shade of red, and in the distance are brown rocky mountains, with smaller rocky formations looking like they emerged straight from the earth. It is unknown whether it is day or night, as there is no Sun or moon.
RHOMBUS
Wh- Where the hell are we?! Trapezoid, where did you take us?!
CIRCLE
(in disbelief)
I… I didn’t think this place was-
RHOMBUS
(listening to anyone speaking)
THIS PLACE WAS WHAT?!
TRIANGLE
Dear gosh, Rhombus! Could you at least calm down?! I know all of us are confused, but at least let Circle speak so we could maybe get some clarity!
CIRCLE
(given a chance to speak jeez)
… In history class, we went over the end of the Confederation of the Shapelands, but I doubt any of you remember, so I’ll tell the tale once more.
The scene fades to black and transitions into a paper-like animation with moving sketches to aid in Circle’s explanation.
CIRCLE
It was the year 900. The Shapelands have been living in peace and prosperity for well over a millennium, until that peace was broken. A select few, who remain unknown to this day, led countless attacks on anything related to the then-called Confederation of the Shapelands. It seemed like these few would emerge victorious, until the Confederation harnessed the power of interdimensional travel in the year 905. The rebels were banished on May 7, year 908, to a dimension we call… The Crimson Veil.
Scene fades back into reality.
Rhombus is utterly flabbergasted.
RHOMBUS
(Triangle overlaps her voice and her voice goes into the background)
… So does that mean… THAT THERE ARE EVIL TYRANTS HERE?! THEY MIGHT SNEAK ATTACK US AT ANY POINT! WHO IN THE RIGHT MIND WOULD TAKE US TO A WORLD WHERE WE MIGHT AS WELL BE (fades out)
Camera moves to Triangle and Nonagon as Rhombus is yelling. Nonagon is sitting up on the red grass, looking far into the distance, like she had just lost a loved one.
Triangle notices Nonagon’s quiet demeanor.
TRIANGLE
(to Nonagon, talking over Rhombus)
You okay?
Triangle sits next to Nonagon.
NONAGON
(Rhombus’ voice fades out)
… I don’t know where exactly we are but… we need to get Hexagon back. … It just feels… incomplete, you know? She was just starting to change but was taken away before anything else was…
Small pause.
TRIANGLE
I understand what you mean. But not all hope is lost… Trapezoid knows stuff we don't. He made a portal that led to this dimension and knew exactly when to reveal it. I’m sure he can get us back…
The camera pans to Trapezoid. All eyes are on him. It seems that Pentagon has just finished a conversation with Oval and has stood up in front of Trapezoid.
PENTAGON
You know how to get back, right Trapezoid?
TRAPEZOID
(talking in his mind, anxious)
It’s all on me… But… I, I can’t get them out I- I need-
PENTAGON
Trapezoid?
Trapezoid’s blank enough poker face glances at Pentagon.
PENTAGON
It’s okay, Trapezoid. I’m sure we will all find a way to get back home!
TRAPEZOID
(talking in his mind)
Why can they understand me…?
OCTAGON
(not to any specific person)
Hey, maybe Host has an idea!
Now all the eyes are on Host.
HOST
(initially locked out, then shaky)
Huh? Oh, uh… I don’t know where to start… but we can make it a challenge…! Whoever finds the least information by the end of the day will be automatically eliminated!
NONAGON
(strong but not yelling)
Woah woah woah. You’re telling me that we’re still doing this competition, when we are STUCK in another dimension?!
HOST
… How’s this - Let’s just think of it as a search team. I’m the coordinator and you all are the searchers, except the eliminated contestants.
CIRCLE
(confused)
What do you mean by that?
The camera is focused on Host, with the contestants around him, listening in.
HOST
(somewhat hesitant at the start)
… Here’s the game plan. You four eliminated contestants will build a shelter here with any materials you can scavenge, just in case there’s any severe weather.
CIRCLE
You got it, Host.
The four begin to search in different directions without hesitation.
HOST
And the rest of you guys will try to find any information out there.
HOST
Make sure to stay safe and aware of your surroundings. I’ll be carefully teleporting around, checking up on you all as you venture.
RECTANGLE
(less excited than usual)
Hey, Square, I think we should team up for this.
SQUARE
You always want to team up.
RECTANGLE
Well, it’s serious now! Aren’t you… scared?
SQUARE
(with careful thought)
… I’ll go with you, sis.
Rectangle doesn’t say anything and they start to head off.
PENTAGON
(to Trapezoid)
Do you want to go together, Trapezoid? I could find some materials along the way to try and make some protection for us!
Trapezoid nods.
PENTAGON
Lead the way, partner!
They embark on their adventure.
Nonagon and Octagon are still near Host, unaware if they should team up.
NONAGON
(to Octagon)
It looks like they’re all off except for us. Wanna go as a pair like the others?
OCTAGON
You know what, sure. I guess it’s smart to use a buddy system. Plus, I have something that I think would help us. I’ll tell you later.
NONAGON
Alrighty then. Let’s head out.
Host is now alone.
Host sits down in a way that makes him look… hopeless.
Sudden black screen, which leads to a new opening animation.
EXT. ANOTHER PLACE IN THE CRIMSON VEIL
Nonagon and Octagon are surveying the area. They’re in a place with a lot of rocky formations.
NONAGON
So what were you going to show me, Octagon?
OCTAGON
Oh. Yeah.
Octagon pulls out a genie lamp from his back. Please note that Octagon does have arms now.
NONAGON
Is that…?
OCTAGON
A magical lamp that holds a genie that will grant me three wishes? Yep.
Decagon emerges from the lamp.
DECAGON
(playfully)
Heya!
Nonagon is in shock, as any sane person would be.
DECAGON
Oh my gosh, why does everyone-
OCTAGON
You think that people would be indifferent to witnessing a ghost in real life.
DECAGON
… Fair point.
NONAGON
I’m not seeing things. Am I? I swear it’s because we’re in this weird dimension-
OCTAGON
Nonagon, Decagon’s been with me since the second challenge.
DECAGON
(commenting)
Unfortunately…
OCTAGON
Oh, hush.
NONAGON
(to Decagon)
… Alright. Um. So you’ll… be able to grant… three wishes?
DECAGON
I actually don’t know! I’ve already granted one wish to Octagon,
OCTAGON
(continuing Decagon’s explanation)
Which, actually, made me win the challenge where we found you!
DECAGON
So logically I have two left, but, I’m not sure if there is a limit.
NONAGON
(somewhat confuzzled)
…
OCTAGON
What, you don’t think we should use one NOW, do you? We don’t even know what we’re looking for-
NONAGON
No no, obviously you should use the second wish when the time is right, but…
NONAGON
All of this seems so… surreal to me. Before I joined the show I was just working a dead-end 9-5 at McCircle’s and going to school. Then I missed one day of work and they trapped me down in that pit for… who knows how long.
NONAGON
Then you guys rescued me, let me join the game, and even though right now we’re in a crisis to get back home and save Hexagon… I just can’t stop feeling gratitude of all the crazy things that’s happened, you know?
Octagon and Decagon were quietly listening, and they continue to remain silent.
However, the camera focuses on Decagon, who seems to be resonating with Nonagon’s story.
The camera is now showing all three of them, with the surrounding red grass as well.
A quiet moment is shared between them.
Suddenly, what seems to be a sharp triangle-shaped blade comes shooting down from the sky, barely missing Nonagon.
Whoosh
NONAGON
(startled)
..?!
OCTAGON
What was that?! That almost-
Nonagon glances up above Octagon.
NONAGON
(urgently)
Octagon, LOOK OUT!
Nonagon dives to save Octagon from being sliced, as another blade was coming straight for him.
Whoosh
DECAGON
Whoa, where are those coming from?!
OCTAGON
(urgently)
There’s no time to look! We have to RUN!
Octagon picks up the genie lamp which drags Decagon along with it. The three start to run away from the shower of blades, but the scene abruptly cuts.
EXT. IN FRONT OF A HUGE MOUNTAIN
Rectangle and Square stand before a mountain with a large entrance, seemingly begging for them to go in.
RECTANGLE
Woah… Let’s go in, Square!
SQUARE
…
INT. DARK CAVE UNDER MOUNTAIN
They walk into the dark cave. It’s nearly pitch black, with the only light source being the entrance.
RECTANGLE
I can’t see anything!
SQUARE
I have a flashlight, Rectangle.
Square reaches into her back cartoonishly with her leg to get the flashlight.
Click
The flashlight turns on and Square gives it to Rectangle. The cave is now much brighter.
Rectangle illuminates a side of the cave, which reveals two paths.
SQUARE
It looks like we have to choose a path. Which one should-
RECTANGLE
(cutting Square off)
Let’s go to the right one, Square!
They head into the right path.
As they walk, with the flashlight illuminating the once pitch-black cave, they start to see subtle carvings in the cave walls. Most of them appear to be swirl-like circular shapes of varying sizes.
Eventually, they reach another place where they have to make a decision. Now it’s a path going up or going down.
RECTANGLE
I have a feeling there may be something up the mountain! Let’s go!
They go to the path that leads up.
They enter a dome-shaped clearing, with the swirl patterns still all over the walls.
All seems peaceful as Rectangle and Square observe the cave, but any peace is interrupted when the floor begins to rumble…
Rumble rumble
Rectangle and Square immediately take note and try to balance themselves.
Rumble rumble
SQUARE
The floor is unstable…!
RECTANGLE
(shaky)
I don’t have a good feeling about this anymore…
Rumble rumble
RECTANGLE
We should go now, Square…!
Rectangle attempts to take one step, but the floor opens up under her, sending her to the depths below.
Crumble
As she fell, she subconsciously threw the flashlight away from the hole.
RECTANGLE
(getting quieter, echoed)
AAAAAHHHH…!
SQUARE
RECTANGLE!!!!
The rumbling of the cave has abruptly stopped…
Square swiftly but carefully makes her way over to where Rectangle fell, making sure to have distance from the hole.
She picks up the flashlight using her mouth and stares into the hole, but there’s nothing to stare into. The hole is nothing but darkness.
Square then looks toward where they came from, but it’s now caved in. She looks around the cave and sees that a new path has opened up.
Despite being shaken up by her sister’s disappearance, it looks like Square is ready to take that new path.
EXT. HILLY AREA
Trapezoid and Pentagon are hiking up a red hill. It looks like they want to see what’s up and over the hill.
Grass crunching noises
PENTAGON
(to Trapezoid)
Gee, I sure hope the others are alright!
Trapezoid nods back.
They continue to walk up the hill in silence for a few moments…
Even more grass crunching noises
PENTAGON
Hey, Trapezoid?
Trapezoid looks at Pentagon tentatively.
PENTAGON
I’ve been wanting to ask… …is-
Host suddenly poofs into existence in front of them.
PENTAGON
AAH! … Oh, hello Mr. Host Sir…!
HOST
Hi, Pentagon, Trapezoid. Found anything worth sharing yet?
PENTAGON
Um, no, not right now… We’re trying to get up this hill!
HOST
Oh, if you want I can get you up there in a snap!... Literally.
PENTAGON
Oh, that would be great-
Snap
Host, Pentagon, and Trapezoid teleport to the top of the hill.
It takes a second for Pentagon to process the teleportation. He’s not used to it.
PENTAGON
Oh- Thank you Mr. Host!!!
HOST
No problem! Anyways I’m gonna g
Snap
PENTAGON
Well now that we’re up, let’s see what’s on the other…
Pentagon and Trapezoid turn around.
PENTAGON
Side…
They’re in awe, not because there’s a very majestic object or anything, but because of how the land drastically changes as soon as it goes downhill.
It looks like the whole area is charred. Darker than the surrounding area. It looks as if the life was sucked out of the grass. There is a lack of rocky formations.
Pentagon and Trapezoid view the scene from the top of the hill for a few moments, until something catches Trapezoid’s eye.
Trapezoid nudges Pentagon using his leg (basically kicking) to get his attention.
PENTAGON
Ow, Trapezoid, that- huh? Do you see something?
Trapezoid gestures using his body in the direction of a faint red-tinted light, all the way on the edge of the horizon, across the wasteland.
PENTAGON
Oh, I think I see something too!
Trapezoid begins to walk down the hill, but is briefly stopped by Pentagon.
PENTAGON
Wait, Trapezoid…
Trapezoid glances up.
PENTAGON
Let’s be quick once we get down the hill, okay? This place gives me the creeps…
Trapezoid nods, and then they go down the hill.
After Trapezoid slides down and Pentagon stumbles down, Trapezoid looks around for anything out of the ordinary. The coast is clear, so Trapezoid gestures at Pentagon to keep going.
They don’t run through the wasteland, rather a strong walk, almost like a jog. Every step they make, a small cloud of dust emerges from the ground, scattering into the air.
As they walk, Pentagon looks around and sees that the wasteland is… oddly in a straight line, like it is following the path of whatever is at the end.
The scene ends with the camera focused on the shining light, still far in the distance.
INT. PRISON CELL
There is an abrupt transition from the camera being focused on the red light to the camera being focused on a security camera.
The camera stays on the security camera for a few seconds, before switching to Hexagon, watching it carefully from her cell.
After a few seconds of observing, Hexagon hears footsteps and backs away from the bars. She remains sitting up on the floor, but is in a position where it looks like she’s keeping to herself.
Once the table soldier turns the corner, she starts counting their steps…
HEXAGON
(near silent)
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten.
Hexagon peeks at the other end of the hallway of jail cells, where there is another turn in the hallway.
HEXAGON
(near silent)
Five seconds until he turns…
Hexagon waits five seconds. Once the five seconds are up, the table soldier turns and leaves through the other hallway on the other side.
Once Hexagon confirms that the table soldier is no longer near, she pulls out a folded up paper and a pencil. It’s a map of what Hexagon has observed so far…
She has drawn one security camera, exactly in the location of the camera that she was eyeing at the start of the scene. It’s also on the same side from where the table soldier came.
The corridor is shaped like a bracket tilted ninety degrees. On the longest side of the bracket, are five jail cells. Hexagon marked her cell as the middle cell with a hexagon.
She has an area of the hallway shaded in, which indicates the spot that the security camera can see. Luckily, her cell is only half covered by the camera, and the digitally powered lock is on the side that isn’t covered.
[INSERT DRAWING HERE]
HEXAGON
(near silent)
And eighteen seconds to do my thing.
Hexagon pulls out a screwdriver, probably left on her person by accident.
She quickly unscrews four screws on the backplate of the lock. The backplate comes off, and she hides it behind herself. She waits for a moment, and then footsteps are heard coming from where the table soldier left.
She acts like she’s minding her own business once again as the table soldier passes by, taking exactly ten steps to do so. Five seconds pass by, and the table soldier leaves.
Hexagon waits until the footsteps are no more and then goes back to the lock and pulls out a knife used for eating.
She then cuts one wire - the red one - and a small click is heard coming from the lock.
Click
Hexagon turns the knob and the cell door creaks open…
Creeaaak
She closes it in satisfaction that the lock is officially deactivated.
Hexagon puts on a slight smirk, not letting go of the knob.
Creeeaaak
The door, which for context is not made up of bars, is slowly closed by Hexagon.
It moves closer, filling the frame.
And with a final echoing clunk, the door is closed shut, cutting the screen to black.
INT. PITCH-BLACK DEEP CAVE
Rectangle opens her eyes. All that’s visible are her eyes, which are white to contrast the darkness.
RECTANGLE
Urgh… …H-Hello?! Anyone-
Rectangle’s memory comes back as if she was booting up like a computer.
RECTANGLE
…! Wait, SQUARE!! Square, are you there?! …
RECTANGLE
Is anyone…
Rectangle takes a step forward in first person.
Note that the camera is now in first person.
Stepping on rock noises
Rectangle takes a few more steps. All that can be seen is her limbs, until…
Unsettling reveal noise
A square with arms is sitting on the ground. Their eyes are present but covered in some sort of sludge. They’re looking directly at Rectangle.
Official art of this character below
RECTANGLE
(obviously startled)
AAGH!!! … Sq-Square………?
Rectangle has a suspicion that it’s not Square.
RECTANGLE
(shaky)
Y-You’re… not Square…
The square with arms eerily smiles, not moving an inch. At the same time, a swirly pattern starts to emanate from the square’s right eye…
Hypnosis noises
UNKNOWN SQUARE WITH ARMS
(playfully)
Heeheehee…
Suddenly, the square vanishes, and the cave mysteriously lights up in a dark blue hue. Rectangle is in the middle of a semi-spherical cave, with no entrance or exit to be seen.
Rectangle looks around and sees that the square is appearing in many places in the air and quickly disappearing.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh a lot of whooshing as the square appears and disappears
RECTANGLE
(alert)
Who are you…?! Where’s Square?!
UNKNOWN SQUARE WITH ARMS
(echoed, disembodied)
You’ve come alone.
RECTANGLE
…?!
UNKNOWN SQUARE WITH ARMS
(echoed, disembodied)
That is when most are honest.
The intense whooshing of the cave stops and the square appears in front of Rectangle, legs crossed, sitting on the ground.
Rectangle instinctively takes a step back…
RECTANGLE
Wh-... What is this…? …Why do you look like-
UNKNOWN SQUARE WITH ARMS
Because in times like these, you need her the most. More than you admit.
The square stands up, keeping their eyes on Rectangle always.
UNKNOWN SQUARE WITH ARMS
I was sent to this dimension long ago because something needed to change.
RECTANGLE
So you’re those… …
UNKNOWN SQUARE WITH ARMS
I know you don’t want to believe them, Rectangle.
RECTANGLE
…?
Suddenly, the cave started to spin like a hurricane. Blue mist covered her surroundings and spun around her. Rectangle was in the eye of the storm.
Rectangle looks around her aimlessly, trying to see out of the circulating fog…
The camera is closing in on Rectangle and the storm is getting thicker. She doesn’t know what’s happening or what to do.
And suddenly, the scene transitions by making a foggy blur turn into a triangle-shaped blade.
EXT. DODGE THE BLADES SIMULATOR
The camera follows the blade spin and carve into the ground. A pair of legs run past the blade.
Then the camera changes to Nonagon and Octagon running, trying to dodge any blades that come at them from above.
OCTAGON
HOW MUCH LONGER DO WE HAVE TO RUN!?
NONAGON
I DON’T KNOW!!
Camera changes to first person (Nonagon), and it shows her looking around for anything that can shield them…
A glance to the right, nothing. A glance to the left…
NONAGON
I… I think I see a mound in the distance!
OCTAGON
THEN LET’S GO!!!
They sprint to the rock with all their energy, continuing to dodge blades.
Nonagon is the first to reach the rock, with Octagon somewhat behind, still holding the lamp.
Decagon looks behind them and sees that the blades are getting closer…
DECAGON
THEY’RE GETTING CLOSER!!
Octagon looks behind himself and acknowledges that he may not make it in time for cover, as the line of blades is getting closer…
Octagon then looks ahead and realizes that he needs to do something different…
He locks in and…
OCTAGON
AARGHH!!!
…throws the lamp with all his might over to Nonagon, who is peeking over the edge of the rock.
The lamp (with Decagon) lands next to Nonagon, so she quickly slides it behind the rock.
It’s just Octagon, running for his life. Nonagon looks at him with concern, getting closer with each passing second…
NONAGON
YOU’RE ALMOST THERE! KEEP GOING!!!
DECAGON
COME ON, OCTAGON!!!
OCTAGON
…!
He persists until…
Stab (piercing through flesh) noise
OCTAGON
AAAAAHHH!!!
A blade pierces right through the middle of Octagon’s body, pinning him to the ground. (Note that there is blood in this universe)
NONAGON
OCTAGON!!
Nonagon doesn’t dare to move from behind the rock, even though the blades have stopped.
Groaning noises coming from Octagon (I mean come on, he’s been brutally stabbed)
Nonagon doesn’t know what to do for a moment, but suddenly, a shadow looms over Octagon, slowly descending…
Nonagon gazes up and a triangle person gazes down.
Official art of this character below
Nonagon thinks for a second…
NONAGON
(out of breath)
Who are you…?! A-and why’d you hunt us like that?!
The triangle touches the floor and keeps their glowing eye on Nonagon. And then suddenly, the triangle generates a spear from thin air and points it at Nonagon. She puts her arms in the air.
NONAGON
(shocked)
What the…?! We come in peace…!
The triangle continues to point the spear at Nonagon and Nonagon keeps her arms in the air. They look at each other for a moment.
UNKNOWN TRIANGLE
… You come in peace…?
Scene ends.
INT. DARK CAVE UNDER MOUNTAIN
Square is exploring the cave alone with the flashlight in her mouth.
The swirl patterns are still everywhere, but soon, an actual man made path begins. And later, structure. And then finally, as Square navigates what seems to be an abandoned mineshaft under the mountain, she encounters a grid of tiles on the floor, with the path going down at the end.
Square looks down at one of the tiles and carefully reaches out using her foot.
The second her foot makes contact on the tile, it crumbles and the pieces fall into a pit of darkness and despair.
Square is obviously somewhat startled by this, but she locks back in and tries another tile next to it. This one doesn’t crumble. It’s assumed that Square knows what’s going on now.
I imagine very majestic music to start playing as the scene cuts every once in a while to flash-forward. After a “montage” of Square trying tiles and progressing through the maze, she reaches the end, and hesitates for a second before she heads down the path. The frame becomes 2-dimensional in a sense as it shows Square going down a diagonal stair-like path. The frame gets darker until it’s pitch black and the scene ends.
INT. PRISON CELL
It transitions from being pitch black to the camera panning down to Hexagon’s prison cell, where she’s watching the table soldier walk by.
Hexagon watches the table soldier intently, walking down the hallway and then turning on to the hallway without the security camera after standing for five seconds.
After the footsteps of the soldier have subsided, Hexagon carefully opens the cell door…
Creeeaaak…
And then does a Dark Souls-like roll over to the turn of the hallway.
Whoosh
Hexagon peeks over the edge of the turn, and sees the table soldier standing at the end. Then without warning, the table soldier turns around, and Hexagon immediately moves away from the soldier’s view and then rolls back to her cell, closing it quickly.
Creeak
The footsteps get louder and the table soldier comes back, takes ten steps, and then waits five seconds at the end of the hallway before turning right and walking.
Hexagon seizes this opportunity to see what’s at the end of the hallway, so she opens the door again and rolls over to the end.
Creak
Whoosh
Hexagon looks carefully at the end of the long hallway and sees… a power grid.
She puts on a determined face and goes back to her cell quickly.
Creeaak
Then she pulls out that sketch of the corridor and draws an extension to the hallway that she peeked at.
At the end, she draws a power grid-like sketch and circles it. The scene abruptly cuts.
EXT. WASTELAND
Trapezoid and Pentagon are trudging through the wasteland, constantly stepping on ash…
PENTAGON
(to Trapezoid)
Uh, I was saying earlier, Trapezoid…
Trapezoid looks at Pentagon.
PENTAGON
Is there a… reason you don’t talk?
Trapezoid blinks.
PENTAGON
Um… sorry, I guess that’s too personal of a question for you…
TRAPEZOID
(talking in his mind)
It’s not that…
They walk in silence for a moment.
PENTAGON
I held a meeting a while ago, while we were still in school.
PENTAGON
I couldn’t help but notice that you were… alone, if that makes sense.
PENTAGON
So I invited our classmates to stay after class to talk…
INT. CLASSROOM - FLASHBACK
They’re at the back of the class. Circle is at the front, cleaning up the whiteboard.
TRIANGLE
So what’d you call us here for, Pentagon?
PENTAGON
(somewhat anxious)
Sorry for making you all stay back, but I’ve noticed that… Trapezoid doesn’t have any friends… right…?
OVAL
Don’t think so. Never even heard the kid say a single word.
PENTAGON
Don’t you all think that he’s… a bit lonely…?
RECTANGLE
Oh yeah! Come to think of it, none of us have ever talked to him!
TRIANGLE
Oh yeah, that’s right!
OVAL
Wow, very thoughtful of you,
Pentagon.
PENTAGON
So, um… I know he doesn’t talk, but I think we should at least try to talk to HIM instead!
RHOMBUS
(sassy)
And what, we just assume that he responds?
PENTAGON
Well, we could do that…
OVAL
I think that’s the best shot at including Trapezoid.
PENTAGON
Okay, uhm, do we all agree?
Everyone but Pentagon and Circle say something that means yes. Flashback ends.
EXT. WASTELAND
PENTAGON
We never really… understood you. We just… filled in the gaps, you know?
PENTAGON
I guess I’m just asking because… I want to actually understand you.
TRAPEZOID
(talking in his mind, somber)
… I know you all don’t understand me…
TRAPEZOID
(taking in his mind, breaking)
I just… don’t know… how to…
PENTAGON
H-Hey! Look! We’re almost there!
There’s a wide, gray stage-like structure with stairs that lead up to the middle.
In the air is the light, seemingly levitating with nothing supporting it.
PENTAGON
I think I can see where the light is coming from!
As they walk closer, they see the source of the light.
… It’s a floating serrated knife.
PENTAGON
Oh…? It’s a… a k-knife…?
PENTAGON
T-The red light must’ve come from a r-reflection from the sky…
Without warning, the knife points towards the two. Pentagon is frightened. Trapezoid also steps back.
Then, what looks to be a hundred knives spawn surrounding the first one, all floating in the air.
PENTAGON
I… I don’t like this, Trapezoid!!
PENTAGON
I THINK WE SHOULD-
The knives all simultaneously shoot towards the two.
PENTAGON
(echoed at the end)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaa-
Scene abruptly cuts.
EXT. FRONT YARD OF A HOUSE
Rectangle seems confused. She looks at her arms and her body to make sure she’s not insane.
She turns around and sees the house that was behind her. Rectangle recognizes it and walks to the front door and opens it.
INT. LIVING ROOM
Square is sitting on a couch reading a book.
RECTANGLE
(relieved)
Oh, Square…! Wh-... Why are we here…? Why are we… home?
SQUARE
(still on the couch, irritated)
For the last time, Rectangle, I don’t want to go outside right now.
RECTANGLE
(confused)
What do you mean…?
SQUARE
(irritated)
Can you just leave me alone?
RECTANGLE
B-But, Square, I… I don’t know what’s happen-
Square shuts her book.
SQUARE
(stern, irritated)
I SAID…
Square stands up and goes to Rectangle.
SQUARE
(very loud, echoed)
JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!!
Square’s voice produces a shockwave that flings Rectangle out the door and into… Harassment Hills…?
EXT. HARASSMENT HILLS
Rectangle stands up and sees Square looking at the RANDOMIZER 2000.
SQUARE
(irritated)
Oh, PLEASE, Rectangle. We BOTH know you wish we were paired EVERY TIME.
RECTANGLE
Wh-what?! I- Uh…?
SQUARE
(angrily)
IT ALWAYS HAS TO BE YOU AND ME, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
RECTANGLE
(frightened)
WHAT..?! NO- TH-THE RANDOM-
SQUARE
(very loud, echoed)
I’M NOT A LITTLE KID ANYMORE, RECTANGLE!!!
Square’s voice once again flings Rectangle into another scene.
EXT. LOCAL LIBRARY
Rectangle and Square are sitting next to each other exactly like in the fourth challenge.
SQUARE
(angrily)
YOU THINK I CAN’T DO ANYTHING MYSELF. I ALWAYS HAVE TO BE BY YOUR SIDE.
RECTANGLE
NO! THAT’S NOT-
SQUARE
(very loud, echoed)
ADMIT IT!
Rectangle is flung into a different scene again.
EXT. BREAK-IT BRAWL AREA
Square is falling down in slow-motion. This seems to be the part where Square is hit and Rectangle bawls her eyes out.
SQUARE
(angrily)
IT’S NOT THAT I NEEDED YOU, RECTANGLE.
SQUARE
(angrily, serious)
IT’S THAT YOU NEEDED ME.
Rectangle stares down at the falling Square, with small tears in her eyes.
The blue fog encircles her, blocking the view of anything around her.
The unknown square appears from the fog.
RECTANGLE
(breaking)
Wh-what d-did y-you…
UNKNOWN SQUARE WITH ARMS
(deliberate)
I showed you what you had to see.
RECTANGLE
…?!
Rectangle stares at the unknown square. The scene abruptly cuts. (I swear all this constant cutting is for a reason.)
EXT. BASE CAMP
The eliminated contestants, Circle, Rhombus, Oval, and Triangle, have constructed two makeshift shelters using pieces of old scrap metal and other things you would find in nature. They’re working on a third one.
Oval is building the third one while Triangle is coming back with more random scrap metal in her hands.
TRIANGLE
(to Oval)
I’m back with more materials.
OVAL
Thanks. You can just leave it over there.
Triangle puts the scrap metal down near Oval.
TRIANGLE
Alright… there.
OVAL
(while constructing)
… You think that the others are doing well right now?
TRIANGLE
Host said that he’s periodically checking up on them. If something happened, I’m sure he would’ve teleported them back.
OVAL
But what if Host doesn’t know where they are…?
TRIANGLE
… That’s true…
Circle has finished making a circle of logs.
RHOMBUS
(sassy)
Erm, Circle, why are you making this? This is utterly pointless!
CIRCLE
If they’re still doing the competition, then they need a place to eliminate someone.
RHOMBUS
(sassy)
Oh come on, get your priorities straight! The prize probably isn’t even real anyways. I mean, getting to control the Shapelands? We’re being controlled right now!
CIRCLE
The only reason I’m still believing in the Host is because he has powers that no other shape has. I’m not even sure if he is a Shapelander.
RHOMBUS
(sassy)
Whatever. I’m going to just sit down in one of the shelters.
CIRCLE
Suit yourself, Rhombus.
Circle thinks for a moment.
CIRCLE
The Host… better not be bluffing.
EXT. ELSEWHERE IN THE CRIMSON VEIL
Host teleports into existence.
HOST
Come on, come on! Where are they?!
Host teleports into the background of the scene, far away from the camera.
HOST
(anxious)
If I don’t know where they are, I can’t teleport to them…!
HOST
M-Maybe if I just listen, I can hear something…!
EXT. DODGE THE BLADES SIMULATOR
Nonagon is still being held at “spearpoint.”
NONAGON
I-I don’t know what’s going on here…! Why’d you target us with your… your…
Nonagon freezes up, unsure of what to say. Note that Octagon is still IMPALED ON THE GROUND and BLEEDING (but he’s not going to die because of shape anatomy).
UNKNOWN TRIANGLE
(stern)
How do I know you’re not serving the Republic?
NONAGON
(shaky)
Th-the Republic…? You mean the Shapelands’ government?
NONAGON
(less shaky)
We were forced to go through a portal that led us here… There were hundreds of soldiers…! Then…
Nonagon realizes that the unknown triangle has put down their spear.
UNKNOWN TRIANGLE
So now they’re targeting innocent civilians…
The unknown triangle gestures at the blade that’s pinning Octagon to the ground, which causes it to disappear.
Dying coughing noises
Octagon coughs up blood and then stumbles over, now lying on the ground in a small pool of blood.
NONAGON
(seeing Octagon SUFFERING)
Oh shit…!
Nonagon runs over to Octagon. Meanwhile, Decagon can’t even look. He faces the opposite direction, sulking.
Nonagon doesn’t know what to do, like a lot of times in this episode.
UNKNOWN TRIANGLE
Your friend will be okay in due time.
NONAGON
W-WE HAVE TO GET THE HOST…!
Pop
Host appears right next to Nonagon.
HOST
Oh thank the heavens, I finally reached someone-
HOST
…
Host sees Octagon’s bleeding self on the ground. He is obviously frightened by the sight, as any sane person would be.
He observes his surroundings, trying to get a sense of what happened, and then he sees the unknown triangle.
HOST
(to the unknown triangle)
A-Are you…?
HOST
You’re one of those… those tyrants, aren’t you?!
HOST
The ones who were banished long ago?!
NONAGON
NO, HOST, YOU-
Pop
They teleport away. All that’s left is Octagon’s blood on the ground and the unknown triangle. Decagon is also teleported away.
UNKNOWN TRIANGLE
Hm.
The unknown triangle levitates up and flies away…
EXT. WASTELAND
Camera is on Pentagon. His eyes are closed, expecting the worst.
He slowly opens his eyes, and sees that the knives have stopped, right in front of them.
PENTAGON
(frightened)
Huh…?!
The knives group up, and then reveal a… circle.
Official art of this character below
PENTAGON
(scared for his life)
!!!
Even Trapezoid takes a step back… again…
UNKNOWN CIRCLE
(deliberate)
You’ve crossed into the wrong place…
Pentagon is shuttering. Trapezoid has a poker face but you can tell he’s also uneasy.
UNKNOWN CIRCLE
(dark, serious, deliberate)
And I don’t have patience for spies.
The knives levitate to be right above them…
Trapezoid looks up in horror.
Pentagon struggles to pull something out. As the atmosphere closes in, Pentagon grabs what he was reaching for.
With his leg, he holds out a book titled “Laws of the Confederacy,” the same book he obtained in Shapeoff 4, and makes sure the circle can see it.
This catches the circle off-guard.
UNKNOWN CIRCLE
(deliberate)
What…? Where’d you get that…?
PENTAGON
(shaky)
I DON’T KNOW, JUST PLEASE DON’T KILL US…!
The unknown circle takes the book and looks at it.
UNKNOWN CIRCLE
… I thought they got rid of all of these for good.
PENTAGON
(shaky)
I-It was in a library in the Shapelands, a-and, I read it and…!
The circle looks at Pentagon and Trapezoid.
UNKNOWN CIRCLE
… You’re not with the Republic. You’re just kids.
The circle gestures at the knives with their hand and they all disappear.
They stepped forward slowly.
EVIL CIRCLE
They call me “Evil Circle,” but you’ve witnessed the Republic at its worst firsthand. You think we’re worse?
Pentagon nods “no.”
The wasteland is silent except for the constant whooshing of wind as the ambience.
Evil Circle shifts his posture to something less hostile and more calculated.
EVIL CIRCLE
I’m not the only one. … Who they call “Evil Triangle” and “Evil Square” - they’re out there moving.
Evil Circle pauses for a moment.
EVIL CIRCLE
Go back to your group. … When I
return, everything will change.
Although Evil Circle’s remarks are rather cryptic, Pentagon and Trapezoid do as they are told, and begin to run back across the wasteland to where they came from.
INT. PITCH-BLACK DEEP CAVE
EVIL SQUARE
(calm)
I didn’t make you see anything that was already there.
RECTANGLE
But… she didn’t say-
EVIL SQUARE
calm)
She hasn’t found her voice, Rectangle. You need to let her find it.
RECTANGLE
I-... I-...
Rectangle pauses. It looks like she finally understands.
RECTANGLE
I understand.
Evil Square smiles. The fog dissipates, and Evil Square disappears.
Rectangle is back in absolute darkness, until a light is seen at a path that wasn’t there before.
The light is coming from a flashlight, in which Square is holding. She comes into Rectangle’s view, and they find each other’s eyes.
RECTANGLE
Square…
SQUARE
(with flashlight in mouth)
…!
Rectangle doesn’t run over, but walks calmly instead.
RECTANGLE
Square, I- I’m…
Square drops the flashlight to speak.
SQUARE
I’m glad I found you.
Rectangle smiles.
RECTANGLE
Hey, how about you lead the way this time, sis?
SQUARE
Oh… uh, alright.
RECTANGLE
Here, I’ll hold the flashlight for you. Let’s get out of here.
Square smiles. Scene cuts.
EXT. WASTELAND
Evil Circle sits on a chair of knives, thinking.
He looks to the left and sees Evil Triangle floating down.
EVIL CIRCLE
I know you didn’t kill them.
EVIL TRIANGLE
(dryly)
You noticed.
EVIL CIRCLE
You know they’re not with the Republic, so why are you still flinching like a wounded animal?
Evil Triangle doesn’t answer.
EVIL CIRCLE
(intently)
They’re not here to finish us, you know that already.
Pause.
EVIL CIRCLE
… They could finish what we started.
Pause.
EVIL TRIANGLE
Then we’d better meet the rest of them. Where’s E.S.?
EVIL SQUARE
Boo.
Evil Square, who has been right next to Evil Triangle the whole time (just invisible) spooks him.
EVIL SQUARE
Spare me the details - I already know what’s on the table.
EVIL CIRCLE
A chance to finally take back what was rightfully ours. Let’s not keep them waiting.
E.C. and E.T. float up into the sky while E.S. just disappears.
EXT. BASE CAMP
Octagon is heavily bandaged, laying inside of one of the shelters. Decagon is right beside Octagon. Nonagon is filling Host in on their findings. The eliminated contestants are listening.
NONAGON
(to Host)
The triangle and anyone else banished to this dimension - they’re not what we think.
NONAGON
I told them that we come in peace, and they put down their spear.
HOST
But you’re sure they’re one of… them, right?
NONAGON
They asked me about serving the Republic. I think that’s enough proof.
HOST
Alright. And I assume Octagon would say the same things as well?
NONAGON
Yes, but I have to add…
Nonagon glances at Octagon and Decagon. Host does the same.
NONAGON
Octagon risked his own life for Decagon.
HOST
Oh… I… … Thanks for sharing the info.
NONAGON
No problem. We’re in this together, after all.
PENTAGON
(normally, off-camera)
We’re back!
Pentagon and Trapezoid walk towards the shelters.
HOST
Oh, welcome back, Pentagon and Trapezoid.
PENTAGON
Oooh, I like the little houses!
HOST
Yep, you can thank Oval, Circle, Triangle, and Rhombus for that!
RHOMBUS
(not to anyone specific)
Oh my gosh my back hurts from all that work.
TRIANGLE
(to Rhombus)
You barely did anything.
PENTAGON
Yay! …
Pentagon sees Octagon.
PENTAGON
(scared)
Wait, what happened to Octagon?!
NONAGON
He’ll be fine. Just leave him alone for now.
PENTAGON
O-Okay… Well, Mr. Host Sir, we saw a light once we got up that hill, and when we got to it, we met a scary person a-and, I think they’re one of the people who got banished!
HOST
That makes sense. Did they tell you anything?
PENTAGON
They told us that we weren’t with the Republic and that they were going to come back later…
HOST
Come back…?
NONAGON
Does that mean they want to… ally with us?
HOST
Maybe…
Footsteps on grass sounds
Rectangle and Square have returned.
RECTANGLE
(to Square)
Yeah, it was so weird, but it made me realize what I had to change.
Square smiles at Rectangle.
HOST
Welcome back, Square and Rectangle! Did you guys find anything?
RECTANGLE
Well, let’s see…
SQUARE
We were originally going together, but we got split up. Rectangle told me she encountered one of the tyrants and realized that they were only trying to help her.
RECTANGLE
Uh, yeah… I think she can hypnotize us, or something… But Square also-!
SQUARE
(cutting Rectangle off)
No, I didn’t find anything.
HOST
… Thanks for the information, you guys, but according to this challenge’s rules, you, Square, are eliminated.
RECTANGLE
Wait- what?! No, Square, Uh… She’s the one who-
SQUARE
(cutting Rectangle off)
Rectangle.
RECTANGLE
… Huh?
SQUARE
It’s okay.
Rectangle pauses, but then closes her mouth and nods.
HOST
Okay, with all that being over… Pentagon, you said that they were going to come to us?
PENTAGON
Yes Sir, I think that’s what he told me…
RECTANGLE
Wait, they’re coming?!
An unknown individual in front of the group takes a dramatic step in their direction. It’s the exact same camera angle as Shapeoff 1, when Host is introduced.
The group looks at each other in confusion and fear.
HOST
I heard you’re here to… ally with us?
Evil Circle nods.
EVIL CIRCLE
(to the group)
… The Republic has deceived, tracked, and suppressed you all. They have done the same to us.
Evil Circle pulls out the worn law book.
EVIL CIRCLE
(direct)
This is the official law book of the Confederation of the Shapelands. No lies, no fear. Proof that we built something better, long ago. They painted a fake history and branded us as unlawful and unjust.
EVIL CIRCLE
Most of you have met one of us today. We spared you, and now are asking for allegiance.
Evil Circle stands in front of E.T. and E.S., while Host stands in front of all the contestants. E.C. extends an arm in hopes for a handshake.
HOST
(reluctant)
… We trust you.
Host shakes Evil Circle’s hand.
Scene abruptly cuts.

Writer’s notes:
INT. PRISON CELL - POST-CREDITS
Hexagon is peeking at the hallway that has the power grid. She has the bomb in her hand.
She stares intently at the power grid. She aims…
HEXAGON’S FATHER
(echoed, in Hexagon’s mind)
What do you do when someone wants to hurt you?
HEXAGON
(very quietly)
I do… THIS!
Hexagon throws the bomb. It lands right under the power grid. It starts beeping.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Hexagon rolls back to her cell and closes the door.
Beep. Creak. Beep. Beep.
Hexagon closes her eyes and waits.
The camera zooms in on the bomb, which has a digital timer, counting down from 5. The beeps get louder as the timer reaches 0.
Beep. Beep. BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
And then the scene hard-stops.
